Ministries
We would love to have you involved in one or more of these ministries.
Miscellaneous Ministries:
- Volunteer to serve with us one Sunday morning every other month at the Greensboro Urban Ministries Potter House.
We share the gospel and provide breakfast to the individuals staying at the Weaver House Night Shelter.
We start cooking the food at 6:30am, singing songs at 7:00am and then sharing a gospel message at about 7:10am.
After about a 10-15 minute message we serve everyone breakfast. Then we clean-up the kitchen.
If you would like to help in any way such as: singing songs or playing an instrument as we share the love of Jesus Christ with some music,
help with preparing the food, help serve the food to the residents or just help clean up afterwards, we would love to have you with us.
- We welcome you to join us in our Prison Ministry, sharing the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with those individuals that have found themselves incarcerated.
We share with them the hope that is available through a relationship with Jesus Christ. Trusting the Holy Spirit to work in these individuals lives while behind bars.
(2 Corinthians 5:17)
- If you are interested in teaching or helping in a Sunday School class, please see Scott Murphy or Jim Scott.
- PRAYER GROUPS: Believing that prayer is essential to any local assembly, Shannon Hills Bible Chapel has many opportunities for you to join with other believers to pray and seek the Lord’s wisdom, guidance, and blessing on His work here.
In addition to our weekly Wednesday evening Prayer Meeting, there are men’s and women’s prayer groups that meet before the Sunday morning and evening services.
- If you are limited by physical activity you can intercede in prayer for those currently in need or suffering. Visit the online Cards page to pray for them.
You can add someone's name to this prayer list if they are in need or to send them your sympathy, if they are grieving, to acknowledge an anniversary, celebrate a birthday wish or
send congratulatory wishes to someone on their wedding or graduation. Just ask Mark Shelley to add their name to the "Prayer List".
They will be added to our email prayer list and this website's "Prayers and Cards" page as well.
(James 5:16)
- The Ladies Missionary Group, for ladies of all ages, meets at the Chapel the second Wednesday of each month, September through May, at 10:00 a.m.
There is a time of singing, devotion from God’s Word, prayer for specific needs of missionaries around the world, and work projects.
When possible, we have a guest missionary speaker and a luncheon following in the Activity Building, allowing more time to fellowship and learn of the work.
Some projects for third world countries have been health care kits, wall hangings and calendars, including scripture in the native language.
- You can collect the following items year round to be used in the missions work. The items can be placed in the downstairs Missionary Room (beside the Sunday School Office):
Campbell's Soup labels, General Mills box-top labels, "cancelled" Postage Stamps (except "flag" stamps), greeting card fronts, buttons, costume jewelry, eye-glasses, sun-glasses and hearing aids.
- Sponsor a camper for a week at MTYC and give that child a week of learning, memories, fellowship and fun that will last a lifetime.
You may put a check marked "Camp Sponsor" in the offering at one of our services.
(Proverbs 22:6)
Children's Ministries:
- Well-staffed & well supplied childcare for babies and toddlers is provided for all services.
- The Shannon Hills Bible Chapel Sunday School meets each Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. and offers a structured setting for teaching God’s Word.
The Sunday School program spans the entire age range for all children and young adults. Each class is taught by dedicated Christian teachers who have a deep and loving concern for the children.
Our two-fold mission is to bring the children to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and to teach them to “grow in grace,
and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
(2 Peter 3:18)
- The Honey Bees meet downstairs on Sunday evenings from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. throughout the calendar year. Those caring for these children provide a combination of structure in learning Bible lessons,
free time for these little ones to play, learning to appropriately associate with one another, and refreshments.
- Mountain Movers is a program for children in kindergarten through 6th grade. Meeting each Sunday during the school year from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.,
leaders seek to provide an environment through which kids will be won for the Lord and then continue to grow in knowledge of Him.
It is the desire of the leadership of MM to guide and instruct the youth to a clear understanding of the gospel message and the instruction in God’s Word for their lives.
Kids for Christ meetings include singing and prayer, snacks and fellowship, a lesson from God’s Word with practical applications, and games and activities in the chapel gym.
Other activities for Mountain Movers include skating, gym nights, bowling, swimming, pizza parties, the Fall Festival, and the Annual Senior Citizens Spring Banquet hosted by MM.
During the off months, a summer kid’s club is provided during the Sunday evening meeting.
